Most green cards are issued to direct family members or spouses of U.S. citizens, and also through career, employment or investment. A foreign professional or entrepreneur who has a prominent professional background and who wishes to contribute to the U.S. labor market may be eligible to receive a green card and become a permanent resident of the U.S.,

KNOW THE MAIN TYPES OF VISAS THAT ALLOW A GREEN CARD HOLDER TO LIVE AND WORK PERMANENTLY IN THE UNITED STATES.
EB-1 (EXTRAORDINARY ABILITY)
The EB-1A is intended for people with proven “extraordinary skill” in the fields of science, arts, education, business or athletics. The interested person needs to prove that he/she has national or international recognition and that he/she has done expressive and relevant work in his/her professional field.
EB-2 (SKILLED PROFESSIONALS OF NATIONAL INTEREST)
Visa for professionals who have a prominent career and, depending on the profession, a superior academic background in areas of national interest of the United States. Many doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, dentists, engineers, aviation pilots, IT professionals, entrepreneurs, among other professions, may qualify for this visa, and often without even needing a job offer in the USA.
EB-3 (SPECIALIZED WORKER)
The EB-3 serves certain skilled workers with at least 2 years of experience or training, or professionals whose work in the United States requires at least one American bachelor’s degree (or equivalent degree of education in another country). In this type of immigration petition, the interested party needs to receive a job offer from an employer interested in having his/her services in the U.S.
EB-5 (INVESTOR VISA)
The EB-5 is also known as the “investor visa” and can be obtained by foreigners wishing to undertake in the United States. In addition to a minimum investment whose value will be determined according to the location in which the applicant plans to invest, it is necessary to prove that the created business will generate jobs and develop the American economy. The EB-5 initially grants a provisional green card and, later, the definitive one if its carrier can demonstrate that its U.S. venture remains operating and profitable.
